Introduction
The Chartered Scientist qualification (CSci) reflects best practice in science and is set at a benchmark level throughout the science professions. With increasing focus on the interdisciplinarity of science it is vital for scientists to have professional recognition that is applicable across a range of scientific disciplines. Revalidation of both Licensed Bodies and of Chartered Scientists takes place every five years ensuring that standards are maintained and provides assurance that those awarded the designation can demonstrate current high level knowledge, skills and competencies.
A Chartered Scientist (CSci) will be able to demonstrate a systematic understanding of knowledge, and critical awareness of current problems or new insights, much of which is informed by the forefront of their field of study or area of professional practice. Characterised by their ability to develop appropriate solutions to scientific problems, using new or existing technologies, through a combination of high-level knowledge, innovation and creativity.
A Chartered Scientist is a professional for whom the knowledge and skills acquired in an accredited scientific Masters level degree (or equivalent) is critical to his/her job competence.
